Thank you to the Hartman Family First off – thank you Hartmans for choosing Bouchet Images. We appreciate your business! And, also, thank you for introducing us to a fabulous location for future shoots!
The Hartmans asked that we meet at Russ Pitman Park, part of the Nature Discovery Center in Bellaire, for their fun fall family shoot. My wife and I went out early to explore the park and scout out prime spots since we were unfamiliar with the park. What a hidden little gem! We loved it! The natural setting provided a beautiful backdrop for our shoot with the Hartman family.
Russ Pitman Park is a lush 4-acre oasis in Bellaire, just inside the 610 Loop. The Park’s mix of prairie grasses, tall trees, native brush, and wide lawns transport the city-dweller to a secret garden where you magically feel like you’re miles out of the metropolis. It’s a little bit of the country right in the big city. A perfect spot for a stroll, picnic, nature walk or Sunday morning photo shoot!
Russ Pitman Park and lawns are on the estate of the historic Henshaw home. The original home at 7112 Newcastle was built in the 20s by Earl E. Edwards, President of Sealy Mattress Company. I’m fairly certain I sleep on a Sealy every night. So let me just go ahead and give a shout out of thanks to Mr. Earl E Edwards. Thanks man.
In the 30s, the Mayor of Bellaire, a Mr. Frank W. Henshaw, Jr., bought the house, and it stayed in their family ’til it was purchased by the folks who ultimately transformed it to the Discovery Center and parks we see today. So there you have it – the backstory of this hidden gem in Bellaire. Take your kids out there for a stroll through nature, a picnic in the park, or to have a laugh on the playground. And contact Bouchet Images to arrange for a family photo shoot at this lovely location!
