Another great senior portrait session!
Marie came to the shoot prepared – she was calm, relaxed and had 3 outfits planned out and ready to go. Indeed, it’s very common in senior sessions to have at least a couple of wardrobe changes, especially for the girls. Pair the wardrobe changes with a location that has a variety of settings (arches, bridge, flowers, water feature, etc) and you end up with a great selection of shots, all taken in just an hour!
So before we began taking any pictures, we had her show us the outfits she had for the day. From there, we made our plan. We’d do standing classic photos with the black dress, then a mix of shots with the white blouse and fun fuchsia shorts, finally wrapping up with more earth shots sitting against the little bridge and on the rocks with the jeans and bomber shirt. Not only does it help us (my lovely wife/assistant and I) talk through the plan at the beginning like that, but we find it also helps the client to relax and become more comfortable with the flow of everything. We always stress that even though we have this framework of a plan, we are always flexible and we encourage the client to let us know if they have any ideas of their own for poses/setting and/or if they feel uncomfortable with anything.
We were lucky this morning to have an overcast sky (great for photos!) and we even had a fair bit of wind, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Find a way to work with the wind and you could end up with some lovely shots just like they do in the magazines with their big fancy wind machines!
We wish Marie all the best for these last few weeks of her senior year! Thanks for choosing Bouchet Images for your senior portraits and sorority rush photos!
